Do You Need a Checkup?

When was the last time you saw your doctor? If you can answer yes to any of the questions below, it’s probably time for a checkup.

  1. In the past few years, have you been to the doctor for an appointment for yourself?
  2. Have you had any changes in how you feel?
  3. Are you due for any shots?
  4. Is there anything else concerning you?

In the past, most medical groups recommended an annual health exam. This may still be true for you, especially if you are taking prescription medicines. But recently, the American Medical Association and others have suggested medical checkups be performed every five years (for adults over age 18) until age 40 and every one to three years after that.

Through the course our lives, health risks and needs change. Think of a visit to the doctor’s office like regular maintenance on your car to make sure it runs smoothly. Prevention and early diagnosis is the best way to make sure you feel your best.
