All health insurance plans cover essential health benefits like preventive care, prescription drugs, hospital visits and mental health to name a few. But the scope and quantity of services can vary quite a bit from plan to plan. And different plans may cover additional services as well.
Depending on your needs, consider these questions as you compare plans:
- If you are taking certain prescription drugs, are they covered? How much will you be required to pay
if they are?
- How much will the health plan pay for certain benefits like maternity and newborn care? How about mental health and addiction treatment, or physical therapy?
- How much will you have to pay before your plan covers your expenses and how much will it pay once you reach that amount?
You will probably find the answers to these questions in your enrollment materials. You can also call the insurance company for more information.
